Correct Funeral Attire

Written by Kirk, Thursday, January 14th, 2010 in Q&As

What is good/appropriate to wear to a funeral?

In most of Western society, traditional funeralwear is a black suit, black tie, and white shirt. because, for a variety of reasons, few possess these things, it is entirely fine for you to substitute that outfit pending you do so with a sense of decorum: feel free to wear a non-black tie if you don’t have one, but preferably a dark and very un-noticeable one. Pinstriped or dark gray suits are also appropriate, if you must. You can wear a dark gray, black, or striped shirt if you must as well, but avoid wearing anything with noticeable color.

This is indeed somewhat difficult. You may have to suck it up and purchase a black tie/white shirt from a local store beforehand. If you do not have a black suit, and you have nothing that would easily replace it, you may have to actually purchase a suit.
