Leather Soled vs Rubber Soled shoes

Written by admin, Monday, October 4th, 2010 in Q&As

What kind of dress shoes are better to get: leather soled are rubber soled?

Go for rubber soles as much as you can, and go for leather soles for either very formal dress wear or for special occasions.

As a general rule, rubber soled shoes are more durable and reliable and thus are preferable compared to leather soled shoes. While in many cases leather soled shoes can look sleeker and nicer than rubber soled shoes, the benefits of the rubber soled soles (namely, the waterproofing and the durability) make invaluable for everyday wear. I would personally only go for leather soled shoes if you can’t find an alternative (that is, if there’s some specific style you want unavailable with hardier soles) or if you simply need something for ultra-formal wear.
