WellCultured has always been very lax about our fashion statements- in fact, the main argument against us that we’re TOO lax, and thus lack “true fashion”. Now it’s time to examine the failures of fashion- 20 fashion “trends” and habits that are, without a doubt, the worst of them all.
Girls Jeans

You will not look good. Not only do girls jeans cut off circulation for most guys (And yes, I mean that kind of circulation, as in they will turn you into a eunich in extreme circumstances), but they look stupid and are not meant for the male form. "Stretch Jeans" are horrible for women: and the same applies to you.

I just want to say that “Ear Gauges” are only a fashion disaster when they’re called “Ear Gauges” instead of being called stretched earlobes. As the latter implies a lifestyle choice.
I just had to slightly object about fedoras, the current trend is short brim rock hard “fgolded top” fedora, which truly looks like an ever-expanding pile of feces.
Now I have a few hats, one of which is a fedora, or more precisely, a borsalino (very high quality hats), and while it might remind you of, as a matter of fact, jews (which is true, a good part of them wear such hats, just not the same way), paired with a nice suit and a well groomed face, do, in fact, look nice, if not a tiny bit forced.
tl;dr: the fedora trend sucks because the hats are low quality and not used in the right context.
I’m not going to TEENRAGE, but I have a solid black pair of Vans Slip-Ons, and they’re probably my most treasured piece of clothing I have… They really can’t be worn in snow or rain, as there’s just cloth between the elements and your foot, but otherwise they’re very comfortable and stylish.
Agree 100% with yum23 on the fedora subject. I also have to bring up popped collars, I’m simply not going to walk around all day with a collar buttoned around my neck to make someone else happy. Plus I’ve seen more than a few people get the “fag” treatment for walking around with buttoned collars all the time.
Seconding the objection of fedoras being included in the list. As long as you’re not wearing a fedora with jeans and a t-shirt and you’re not some hipster failcake, I don’t see anything wrong with them.
Besides, anyone who judges you as pretentious based on a hat is overly sensitive. It’s a hat.
Wtf is with this article? Some of the stuff fit in really well but others seemed as if they were just tossed in to raise the list from a “Top 10″ to a “Top 20″. Geek shirts? Anime shirts? Do the writers of this site even discuss what they submit or do they just hope someone else’s article doesn’t contradict their own. See: “How to throw a successful LAN party”
mobu, collars were not meant to be popped out like that, it’s just some fad retards invented which died a long time ago. If you do it now, you look like a wannabe retard.
What do you mean by “collar buttoned around my neck”? Leave your collars folded and don’t button your shirt up, what’s so constraining about that? And who the hell makes fun of people who don’t pop their collars? The only person I know who pops his collars is a complete dick, so that says quite a bit about that trend.
Definitely agree on Anime and “clever” shirts. You don’t come off as witty, you just look like a nerd.

I’m glad to see that Goth pants made it. I’ve seen idiots running out of the mall and getting the chains caught on baby strollers and stair rails. Hell, they aren’t even really fitting to whatever the Goth lifestyle entails. Real goths would probably wear slacks or regular black jeans. On that note, I’ve never seen a guy in girls fit jeans with a noticably large member. I’m assuming if he did, it didn’t stay that size too long.
Thirding the objection on fedoras. I happen to love my fedora and wear it quite a bit, but I am guilty of wearing it with jeans and long sleeve shirts. (I think if you have short sleeved shirts on, fancy hats are not required) but I like to wear it with my suits or sports coats.
A fine, high quality fedora can be very classy if wore properly. Actually, if you didn’t buy it at Spencers or Hot Topic, chances are you have a half way decent hat!
I dont think theres anything wrong with Vans slip-ons if u stick to basic black and white. they are comfortable (at least i think so). But i do agree that Wehn they have stupid designs and diffrent colors it just looks bad. thats why only the so called “scene/emo” kids wear them. and they look bad anyway.

I think fedoras do belong on the list. If something gets you weird looks, odds are you shouldn’t wear it.
Mobu; I think you’re confusing popped collars with folded down collars. You should never button the top button. Just the first two.
Number 1: I hate skinny jeans but find them oddly attractive on some girls. Weird.

You don’t button the damn collar up to your fucking eyeballs, of course you’re going to get called a queer for that. One or two buttons on the top are unbuttoned unless of course you’re wearing a tie (which I hope you’re not doing with a polo). I went to high school with that douche from the popped collar picture, trust me, no one wants to be that fashion conformist douchebag, no one.

They are not discouraging anime or LAN parties of any kind, and articles do not contradict each other either. You can game all you want, the point is not to wear anime and gaming shirts that make you look like a basement dwelling kid who is socially inept.
While I usually refrain from calling Tripp pants “Gothic” (as they were originally designed for metalheads), you were right to put them here. Tacky as hell.
But does that mean we can wear the rare non-overt geek/anime shirt? The ones that don’t scream “I AM AN ANIME GEEK?”
Perhaps it might be specified that this list means “if you want to look good, don’t wear that”, this would indeed allow for the addition of geek shirts and others. If you take the article this way it sounds smarter.
While any of us(and I the first, sandals, muscle shirts) can wear stuff that any sane soul would burn on a stake during their spare time, simply because there is nothing to gain by dressing well in those moments, when comes the time to look nice, I am pretty sure most of what is listed fits.
The problem some may find is that some of these are worn by the dumbest people in the worst possible way, giving the piece of clothing itself a bad “look”.
Each and any of these have a specific place to be worn, and can probably not be used otherwise, they have a theme.
For example:
-crocs (I fucking hate these), if anything you’d never want to wear that, but if I was given(or forced to get) a pair, trust me they would never be used unless I had some major cleaning to do.
-geek fashion, fine for geek reunions, not the outside world, unless you’re planning to attract other geeks’ attention
-outdated suits are perfect for 80’s party and that kind of things.
Basically, any of these are fine if you’re among peers, as in people who do the same, but if need be to go out of your own circle, they are mostly of ill-advice.
But do correct me if i am mistaken.

On the subject of emo hair (assuming without the fold), does it still count as emo hair is naturally black? This question coming to you from a guy vacationing in asia where a lot of the guys I see who’d be about the age for high school, college or grad school or whatever seem to have that type of hairstyle going on.
Another vote against the fedora being on the list. When worn improperly, it is a disaster. Worn correctly though, a stylish hat can finish off an outfit. I added one to my outfit for senior prom and only walked away with complements. Keep in mind, this was actually a nice fedora though.
I coulded 346 “childish” adjectives used throughout this article. Terrible writing, but good points - except for muscle shirts. I wear muscle shirts.
I agree that fedora’s just make the wearer look like a conceited idiot, If you’re wearing a half decent suit, the fedora is an unneccesary and overblown acessory, and if not, it’s out of place with any casual wear.
I hate to admit it, but I will just wear a t-shirt, shorts, and crocs when I’m only leaving the house to take out the trash, go to the 7-11 down the street, etc.
And I know crocs are extremely tacky, but they’re very comfortable and easy to wear.
