Amp up your Style: Style ideas for Fall 2008

Written by Kirk, Saturday, August 30th, 2008 in Fashion, Spring and Summer '08 Fashions

We too often list off what we don’t like about fashion, leaving a large hole in our arguments: what constitutes good fashion. With no further adieu, here’s a quick list of some good styles becoming more popular in Fall 2008 that we recommend- from our staples (good sneakers) to some new ideas (racing jackets and vests).

A Quality Sweater

Now that we're entering into the Fall season, a good sweater is even easier to get. Sweaters (especially thinner better quality ones) are very versatile and can be worn in even slightly cold weather. V-necks are in style- not only do they allow for layering, but you can even go semi-professional and wear one with a dress shirt (and even a tie), so long as it doesn't come off as too stuffy.

Wow I was just at the mall earlier wondering what to look for this Fall. Thanks for the tips. :)

Where can one buy that pea coat or similar pea coats in south africa

Wow a $40 peacoat? Where did you find that? I may have to go buy it.

I went clothes shopping yesterday and could not find decent jeans. Everything seems to be the torn up shit or shitkicker farmer type. I did actually pick up a vest (before reading this), mostly as a curiousity but I’ll have to find some way to work it in without stooping to the repetitive of using it with the same clothes all the time.

Any suggestions for some pants between jeans and flat front pants? (ie the casualish khakis and such.)

I have to say you probably want to match the neck type of your sweater with what you are wearing underneath, while V-neck is the usual, crew necks are more suitable for crew necks (as is not the case in the picture) and generally for the cold, while V-necks are more suitable for showing off.

On a side note, I absolutely hate how those models are posers, it’s almost ruining some very nice apparels.

Loving this article. Need to know where to find fashion sneakers.

Umm…okay…. discussion on my part is not allowed? One can’t complain about a lack of good jeans in their area without having their comment deleted? Or ask about something better than jeans but not as stuffy as flat-fronted pants?

I’m just rather confused at this.

Above: Relax, relax, approval takes forever and I have to do it manually for the first time you post from an IP. Keeps spammers at bay.

Ah that explains it. Sorry, it had not occured to me that I was posting from a different IP. Was just confused that someone else’s comment had been approved first.

Great article. The only thing I’d suggest is to add stores where some of us may be able to find these stylish articles of clothing at an affordable price range. For example, I’ve been looking for a thin V-neck sweater for a while, but I haven’t been able to find a decent one that isn’t well over $80+; perhaps I’m just searching at the wrong places.

What are those shoes, by the way? Picture #5.

Great article! This is exactly what this place should be about: explaining that stuff to us. Can’t wait for other articles like this.

One question for the author regarding jeans: If this was Levi’s, which models would you recommend? 501? 511?

    Thanks!

  14. Yossarian - September 8th, 2008 at 2:30 pm

Asa, 501’s are classic. The are, for all intents and purposes, always in style. However, 527’s and 514’s are pretty cool at the moment as well. Unless you’re unusually skinny, you probably should not wear 511’s.

    Thanks Yossarian.

On thinking on this again, I find the article lacking in terms of button-down shirts and the like. Any advice there? Also, a dark blue shirt with subtle, thin vertical stripes, would that be OK with a vest?

Mr. Moderator, I am posting from another IP. FYI.

Where can I find that sweater or a similar one?

  18. misterfoe - December 13th, 2008 at 10:20 pm

Levi and Gap have jeans for a decent price with out having all those tears on it and what not.
